WHY
DO WE SERVE?
Volunteers are the heart of Harvest ministry. Our members are committed to helping Harvest prepare people
for life and for eternity, whether that means greeting visitors on
Sunday or tidying
the church grounds on Saturday. From leading music
during worship to launching water balloons at a youth activity, our
volunteer positions provide countless ways for you to serve God by
serving others.
HOW CAN I SERVE?
If you're ready to get
involved at Harvest, you'll first want to visit our Join page for information about
membership. Already a member? Continue reading to learn more about our many volunteer ministries, then complete our Ministry
Opportunity Survey to let us know where you'd
like to serve.
Music & Drama Ministries
Harvest musicians play a vital role in each worship service by
leading the congregation in uplifting, God-honoring music. Our
orchestra and choir are open to all members in Grade 10 or above, with
orchestra practice at 4:40 PM each
Sunday and choir practice at 5:00 PM.
Regular sign-up meetings are held for those who would like to
participate in special music. Adult and teen volunteers also present a drama each fall as part of our annual
missions conference and participate
in skits during several of our youth and family
outreaches.
Youth & Children's Ministries
Supporting
parents as they teach their children to love and serve God is the focus
of Harvest's youth ministries. Possible areas of
service include teaching Sunday school, working in nursery, helping
with our weekly Patch the Pirate Clubs, or volunteering at VBS. Leading a
discipleship group or helping at outreach events is a rewarding way to
help teens grow in their relationships with God and others. For the
safety of our children and young people, volunteers
must complete our Children/Youth
Worker Application and be
members of Harvest for at least two months before working in these ministries.
Adult & College Ministries
Biblical education is a central part of our adult and college
ministries. We believe that God's Word is both powerful and relevant for
our lives today, and we strive to apply biblical principles to all we
do. Harvest volunteers lead Bible studies, teach Sunday school and Bible institute classes, and present challenging messages from Scripture.
Service Participation
Our greeters and ushers not only welcome visitors and help them feel
at home, but also do their best to ensure that each service runs safely
and smoothly. Harvest volunteers lead the congregation in public
prayer and scripture reading, while our technical crew makes sure that
services can be seen and heard online as well as in the sanctuary and
overflow room.
Hospitality and Care
As a church
family, we strive to fulfill John 13:35 as we demonstrate
Christ's love, particularly in times of need. Care coordinators within
each deacon group oversee meals, transportation and other help when
needed. Visitation teams take time to get to know our visitors and
determine how we can meet their needs. Other members frequently serve by
opening their homes to visiting missionaries and evangelists.
Leadership & Administration
Serving on our missions, building, or finance committee is another way
to support Harvest ministries and share valuable
input. Our accountant, financial secretary, and treasurer all volunteer
their time to ensure church finances are handled in a way that is above
reproach. Office volunteers help with everything from stuffing bulletins
and recording attendance to updating announcements and organizing choir
music.
Maintenance
& Support
Harvest is blessed to have many talented men and women who give
up their time to keep our church property looking nice. These volunteers
work together to ensure that we are good stewards of all God has given,
whether that means fixing a challenging technical problem or faithfully
picking up trash each week.
Outreach Ministries
Our counseling ministry and boy scout troop are staffed by
capable, trained volunteers who donate their time to serve the
community. Many Harvest members also volunteer with Tender Hearts
Ministries, helping with their community outreach, thrift stores, and
House of Hope women's shelter.
